There’s a new version of the Microsoft Surface Laptop, which brings the device’s price down. It also makes the device slower though, bringing the processor down to an Intel Core m3 and at a price of $799. You get 4GB RAM on the device, along with 128GB storage inside. That’s a sizeable step down from the Intel Core i5 model, which is priced at $999, though the amount of RAM remains the same. For many, that could make this the right choice for those looking for the entry-level Surface Laptop.
The new version of the Surface Laptop seems to be pretty much the same as the Surface Pro’s entry model.
That said, the new version of the Surface Laptop seems to be pretty much the same as the Surface Pro’s entry model. Both have the same configuration, but the Surface Laptop could actually be a cheaper offering given that the Type Cover case for the Surface Pro laptop requires the $129.99 Type Cover case to be bought separately. It’s possible that Microsoft is trying to get a deeper hold on the market by offering two competing devices.
Microsoft also introduced the Surface Laptops in the Indian market recently. It’s possible that the cheaper variant will make sense in that market, though the company hasn’t indicated the same.
