The Essential Phone is already shipping

And is selling through its website unlocked for $699
By Kevin Eli,

Andy Rubin’s phone is finally here. After a few missed targets, the company has already started shipping the handset to customers. So what this means is that those who had pre-ordered will soon receive a confirmation that their Essential device is on its way. The new smartphone maker is selling its device directly through its website unlocked for $699.

To recall, Essential had announced on August 16, that it would offer details about the phone's availability within 7 days. Thereafter there wasn't much news. Several customers were distraught since Essential had failed to provide shipping confirmation to them even after charging their credit cards. And as we are all aware, leading manufacturers and retailers generally do not debit the amount for a pre-order until the phone is shipped.

'The $700 phone will be going it alone for now — Essential’s 360-degree camera module isn’t yet shipping'

However, Essential quickly reacted and tweeted “We appreciate everyone’s patience,” and advised that those who had been billed for the phone would be receiving an email with the tracking details.

According to the Verge, ‘the $700 phone will be going it alone for now — Essential’s 360-degree camera module isn’t yet shipping — and is currently available in the glossy black colour for these early shipments. The white version is still marked as “coming soon,” and the matte Essential Phone isn’t even listed on the order page yet, so that must still be a ways off.’

Essential plans to work with all major carriers in both the U.S. and Canada unlocked, albeit the company's official carrier partners at launch are Sprint and Telus.
