Google is making it easier to distribute of find augmented reality and virtual reality objects. The company has introduced a new platform, named Poly. The platform gives access to tools like Blocks and Tilt Brush. Tilt Brush is Google’s VR painting application, while Blocks allows sculpting for the same. Together, the two tools allow people access to a art library for building on Google’s ARCore platform, or even Apple’s ARKit, and some other platforms.
The project makes it simple for companies or developers to create VR and AR applications.
The project makes it simple for companies or developers to create VR and AR applications. According to Google, anyone modelling using the tool will be uploading their work for free. This will then be used by others in their own projects, which in turn will create new listings. The new listings will be linking back to the original projects. Google is also allowing the option to download objects directly into a VR workspace. You can even browse the store if you wish and even edit them there. The tech giant has also expressed its plans to build out the platform later with an API.
That said, Poly seems more like a platform for people building VR objects as a hobby. That said, Google could still use objects coming through Poly to further its own aspirations with ARCore.
