OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users can download a beta version of Android Oreo right now. You will have to be part of the OnePlus Open Beta Program. It’s worth noting that the beta build will have some issues at the moment, which wouldn’t be surprising considering its status. Also, it won’t have all of the final features, while others may be buggy, since OnePlus would be working on them still.

The official changelog says that the update will bring the September Android security patch from Google, along with the update to Android 8.0 Oreo.

The official changelog says that the update will bring the September Android security patch from Google, along with the update to Android 8.0 Oreo. It will also add Picture-in-Picture, Audo-Fill, a new Settings design, a new design for Quick Settings and a new smart text selection feature. There will also be notification dots on the launcher, which will allow users to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus.

Some of the issues in the update are already known. That includes the unavailability of a shortcut to access Google Photos, the fingerprint unlock feature may be slow at times, NFC and Bluetooth could be unstable, third party apps may not be perfectly optimised yet.

The update is 869MB in size and it can be downloaded here.

It’s also worth noting that while the Oreo update is coming to the OnePlus 3T, the company had earlier confirmed that this would be the last official update for the device. So, the news would be somewhat bittersweet for users.
