Some iPhone X users are unable to activate their phones

There have been a bunch of reports on Twitter from AT&T and Verizon users.

It seems a number of people who bought the iPhone X are reporting issues with activation of their devices. While the number is not huge yet, a number of people tweeted about the issue. It seems that the alleged issue is affecting users on AT&T and Verizon networks. It seems a message pops up on the phone, saying, “Your iPhone could not be activated since the activation server is is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes.” So, they are left without connectivity on their phones.

Further, according to other users who have been able to activate their devices, the process is somewhat slow. A MacRumours reader said that an AT&T reader told them that this could be because of network congestion, and it’s even possible that it’s something serious. We’ll have to await further instructions on what the issue is exactly.

Apple’s iPhone X started selling from today, so it’s still early days before this is taken up as a real issue. The device is Apple’s biggest launch in years, being touted as the phone that will shape the future. The iPhone X has a completely bezel-less display and sports Apple’s new FaceID unlock system. It runs on the A11 Bionic processor and has the dual-camera implementation the company started with the iPhone 7, albeit with OIS on both the cameras this time.
