While most flagship smartphone makers have been ditching the headphone jack, Samsung has remained steady with that feature. And, it seems like the company is going to continue doing so with the Samsung Galaxy S9 this year. The device is expected to launch at Mobile World Congress this year, and a new leak seems to all but confirm the feature. Of course, mum’s the word for Samsung, at least till Mobile World Congress.
The information actually comes from a leak of Samsung’s new DeX design. The company also seems to have changed the DeX dock this year, though its pricing isn’t known at the moment. The dock allows Samsung’s flagship phones to be hooked up wirelessly to a monitor, and essentially converts them into PCs. The DeX has a USB Type-C port and an HDMI port of its own.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to run on the Snapdragon 845 chipset, along with a variant running Samsung’s own Exynos chipset. It should have 4GB and 6GB RAM variants, and should have between 64GB and 256GB storage options. Samsung is making the camera the premiere feature here though, and many say the Galaxy S9 will be the first phone to have variable aperture.
