The Samsung Galaxy S9 may be more expensive than last year’s Galaxy S8. The device is due to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress this year. South Korean publication, ETNews, reported that the Galaxy S9 may be priced between 925,000 and 1 million won, which puts it between $875 and $925. For reference, the Galaxy S8 started at $720 last year.

Samsung’s latest move brings pricing nearer to Apple’s levels, though the company will certainly be offering a higher range. If Apple’s learnings from the iPhone X are to be taken as an example, this could be the wrong move from Samsung.

This also brings Samsung’s pricing nearer to Apple’s levels, though the company will certainly be offering a higher range. If Apple’s learnings from the iPhone X are to be taken as an example, this could be the wrong move from Samsung. The Galaxy S9 isn’t expected to bring anything new yet.

The phone should run on the Snapdragon 845 chipset, with at least 4GB RAM. A 6GB RAM variant of the device is also expected, along with at least 64GB storage and a top variant with 256GB storage. The phone should have a new 18:9 display with QHD resolution as well, but its main feature will likely be the camera. Samsung is expected to bring a variable aperture camera to its phone, which shifts between f/1.5 and f/2.4 apertures.
