One of the main promises that HMD Global has made about its Nokia smartphones is that they will get Android updates on time. Well, it seems the company is sticking to that promise, at least to some extent. HMD announced on Friday that the Nokia 8 smartphone is getting the Android Oreo update. The same was confirmed by HMD’s chief product officer, Juho Sarvikas, via Twitter.
Nokia took user feedback into account and has “polished” the software for the update.
Sarvikas says that Nokia took user feedback into account and has “polished” the software for the update. Android Oreo on the Nokia 8 started rolling out yesterday, but as with all updates, it’s coming in a phased manner so you may not get it right away. That said, all Nokia 8 devices should be updated to Oreo by the middle of next month.
However, HMD is yet to announced concrete dates for Oreo updates on its other phones. The company has also been selling the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 2, all of which come with the promise of Android Oreo as well. In fact, Nokia had earlier said that the Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 will be getting Android 8.0 before the end of 2017.
