It seems Google isn’t done with its Inbox for Gmail app just yet. The company has just updated the app for notch support. It’s a heft 144MB update and it gives the app support for edge-to-edge screens and 18.5:9 resolutions, including the notch.
The app also supports Apple Super Retina screen, but that’s probably because Apple’s guidelines for apps on the App Store is that they have to support that feature. So, all things said and done, if you’re using the Inbox app on the iPhone X, you will find it much easier to continue using it.
This would also end speculations that Google is giving up on the Inbox app. The company has been notorious for dropping support for its applications after a while. The same was expected when Google brought its big new features for Gmail recently. In fact, many of those features were first introduced with the Inbox app.
This new update means Google still thinks Inbox is popular enough for the company to keep supporting it for a while longer. On the other hand, the fact that most Android OEMs are looking at notched screens as well could be a reason why Google deems it fit to update the app.
