Remember Sundar Pichai’s Twitter promise some time ago? The man told us all that he will fix the hamburger emoji on Android if people could reach a consensus. Well, it seems Pichai wasn’t joking either. With the public release of Android 8.1 Oreo, Google is changing how the hamburger emoji look. The company also added a different beer emoji to Android’s arsenal, fixing that one too.

With the public release of Android 8.1 Oreo, Google is changing how the hamburger emoji look.

The beer emoji earlier showed froth on top of the mug even though the mug seemed to be half drained of beer. The new emoji still has the foam on top, but the glass is now completely full.

In the case of the hamburger emoji, Google follows Microsoft’s example. The cheese is now between the patty and tomato, with lettuce on top of the tomato. And it seems many are noticing this change already.

Android 8.1 Oreo was announced earlier, with a rollout scheduled for early December. The official release started on Tuesday, and will be rolling out to all users. The OS also brings the December security patch, that fixed the KRACK WiFi vulnerability found earlier.
