Former NSA contractor Edward Snowden has created an app that protects your laptop from attackers. Known as Haven, the application is meant to be installed on Android smartphones and monitors your laptop from it. The app will send you notifications if anyone’s trying to tamper with your laptop. There are a bunch of features built into the app to protect your laptop from being tampered.
The app is meant to be installed on Android smartphones and monitors your laptop from it and instantly sends the user notifications if anyone’s trying to tamper with your laptop.
For instance, if you’re leaving your laptop somewhere, you can take put your phone on top of the laptop. If the app detects movement, even light, it will keep a log of that. It also snaps photos and records audio whenever there’s a slight movement or change in light. It sends notifications to the user’s primary phone. The logs it creates are stored on the phone, meaning the security problems associated with cloud support are eliminated as well. The app’s notifications, in turn, are end-to-end encrypted using Signal.
Snowden had earlier discussed this application with Jacqueline Moudeina, the first female lawyer in Chad. The app is obviously directed towards the most security conscious of us, but it certainly achieves a higher standard than anything that’s easily available out there today.
