Amazon is not going to sell Nest products anymore, once the current stock runs out, said a report by Business Insider. The issue has been going on for a while, and Amazon has denied Nest products before. The company apparently informed Nest of the decision late last year, saying that the decision “came from the top”.
Nest is reportedly stopping restocks of its products on Amazon and waiting for the current inventory to be exhausted.
“After weeks of silence, Amazon's retail team informed Nest employees on a conference call late last year that it would not list any of the newer Nest products recently announced by the company, according to a person familiar with the call. The products in question include the latest Nest thermostat and the Nest Secure home security system, among others,” the report said.
In turn, Nest is reportedly stopping restocks of its products on Amazon and waiting for the current inventory to be exhausted. The company says that Amazon should either be selling its entire product portfolio or none of its products.
It would be interesting to see what Google’s reaction to the decision would be though. The company had pulled YouTube from Amazon’s stores earlier this year, citing the fact that Jeff Bezos’ company refused wasn’t selling its Chromecast or Google Home devices. This decision might further fuel that debate.
