As we get nearer to getting an official look at the LG G7 ThinQ edition, more details have been leaked. This new one just corroborates something we saw before: that the LG G7 ThinQ will have a dedicated AI button. However, it doesn’t seem like LG is making its own AI. Instead, the button will apparently call the Google Assistant, which could make it a better solution than Samsung’s Bixby button.
This will also make the LG G7 ThinQ the first smartphone in the world to use a physical button for the Google Assistant. The fact that the Assistant is weaved into Android’s software could make the button easier to use. That is, unlike Samsung’s Bixby button, this one won’t be slow and unintuitive. Or at least one may hope so. LG still uses a custom UI, which could get in the way of things.
That said, reports indicate that LG is headed to make the one big mistake others have. That is, it is not going to let users customise the hardware button for other functionalities.
The LG G7 ThinQ is expected to be officially unveiled on May 2, so we won’t have to wait much longer to find out more about it.
