Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos, the founder and principal shareholder is now worth worth over $100 billion thanks to Black Friday sales that boosted the company’s stocks by more than 2 percent.
According to Bloomberg, the $100 billion dream milestone makes the billionaire technology and retail entrepreneur to build a 12-figure net worth since 1999. The $2.4 billion increase, from Bezos’ previous mark of $97.9 billion, makes Bezos the second to reach the $100 billion milestone. Bezos’s gain just yesterday was adequate to to get him into Forbes' list of the 1,000 richest people on the planet.
The online retail giant’s shares are already up 58 percent this year, contributing nearly $32.6 billion to his fortune. Further, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, Bezos overtook Microsoft’s founder Bill Gates very briefly last month, to become the world’s richest man. Gates is believed to be the only other person to reach $100 billion.
For those unaware, Bezos is now beginning to focus on n philanthropy, and tweeted a request for ideas on how to help people in June this year.
Bezos has also pledged to fund his dream projects of exploring Mars. His space company, Blue Origin, last year launched its first reusable rocket. Bezos has said in the past that humanity’s future is not on Earth.
