Intel Cannon lake processors are targeted at low-end PCs first.
Intel’s next generation Core chips, currently codenamed the Cannon lake processors, may be delayed till next year. Intel’s president of IoT, PC and chip design businesses, Venkata Renduchintala, said that whether shipments will be possible at the end of the year or just after the beginning of next year was “too close to call”. However, he did say that the processors will be delivered to PC makers within the appropriate time frame.
This means that PCs running on the Cannon lake processors shouldn’t necessarily be delayed. Cannon lake chips will reportedly be targeted at low power laptops and 2-in-1s at first, while mass production of these 10nm chips will reportedly begin in the first half of 2018.
So, essentially, you can stop dreaming about a Cannon lake based laptop to buy during the holiday season this year. We’ll be updating you on whatever we learn about the Cannon lake processors in coming days.
