Jon Favreau has directed the first two Iron Man movies, and even played Happy Hogan in them. He’s done a lot more in Hollywood too and is well known. But what he hasn’t done yet is written a Star Wars film. Well, he’s not exactly doing that now, but Favreau will be the man who writes the upcoming live action Star Wars series. The series is meant for Disney’s soon to be launched streaming service.
The live action series will be directed by Rian Johnson, and it’s expected to be released sometime next year. The Star Wars series will be accompanied by a series of movies that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are working on, for the same streaming service. Benioff and Weiss are the showrunners for HBO’s Game of Thrones series.
This won’t be the Favreau’s first introduction to Star Wars either. He has been a voice actor for the franchise before, being the voice for Pre Vizsla in the animated series Clone Wars. He’s also voicing one of the aliens in the upcoming Han Solo movie, titled Solo: A Star Wars Story. Favreau also directed Disney’s remake of The Jungle Book in 2016.
