BlackBerry and Vuzix have teamed up to enable IT departments to manage and secure the data accessed and captured through its smart glasses.

While the former mobile maker was keen to enter this category anyway, the company said that while its Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) software continues to leverage its strength in the enterprise market, the new partnership will allow IT departments to more efficiently manage and secure data. 

Vuzix, which is provider of Smart Glasses, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies and products for the consumer and enterprise markets via a media statement confirmed that its M300 Smart Glasses will be deployed with BlackBerry Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) software, enabling millions of employees wearing head-worn wearable devices on the job to ‘communicate clearly and access critical data, without interruption from the task at hand.’

According to Blackberry, its software gives complete management, control, and enablement capabilities for a growing number and range of connected devices. Further the company claims that its UEM solution enables users to manage BlackBerry 10, iOS, macOS, Android, Windows, and BlackBerry OS (version 5.0 to 7.1) devices and ensure data security across iOS, Android, Windows, and BlackBerry devices. 

The Rochester, New York based giant will be showcasing its technology at BlackBerry’s Security Summit 2017 in London within the next two months, and in New York by mid-November.
