Amazon Prime Video for AndroidTV spotted on Google Play
The Amazon Prime Video app is reportedly coming to Google Play soon. According to reports, an Amazon Prime Video app has been spotted on the Play Store on the AndroidTV platform. It’s unclear when Amazon will make the app available though. In fact, reports say that the app cannot be downloaded or used at the moment. It’s possible that the app is currently under testing and being spotted on the store was the result of some bug.
Google had also failed to offer a Prime Video app for these devices, which seems to be rectified now.
Nevertheless, it’s good news for consumers using the Amazon Fire TV devices or the Echo Show. Google had pulled YouTube from these devices recently, citing conflicts with Amazon. The company’s decision was a result of the fact that Amazon doesn’t sell Chromecasts or Google Home devices on its platform. The company had also failed to offer a Prime Video app for these devices, which seems to be rectified now.
That, presumably means YouTube will also be returning to Amazon’s platforms soon, and consumers on both platforms will not have to suffer because of the feud anymore. Until it is actually resolved though, you can still use Mozilla’s newly launched Firefox browser on Amazon Fire TV devices to open YouTube.
