Amazon Echo Spot is now in UK, Germany and Austria

You can buy the Echo Spot in more countries now.

Amazon has been increasing the reach of its Echo devices for a while now. The company has now launched the Echo Spot in UK, Austria and Germany, just over a month after bringing the device to the US. The Echo Spot is the second Alexa-powered device to have a touchscreen display. The Echo Show, the other such device, is already selling in other markets.

All this probably means that Amazon has a good handle on its AI capabilities now, making it easier to expand beyond the American borders.

The Echo Spot is priced at 129.99 euros in Germany and Austria and £119.99 in the UK. In the US, the company sells the Echo Spot for $130, making the prices somewhat comparable.

What’s interesting here though is Amazon’s expansion strategy. The company had originally been slow to expand its presence across the world with the Echo products. Now, however, Amazon seems to have picked up the pace. It introduced the Echo, Echo Plus and Echo Dot speakers in India in 2017 and the Echo Spot is expanding within a month of its US launch. The Echo Show has also been added to more countries now.

All this probably means that Amazon has a good handle on its AI capabilities now, making it easier to expand beyond the American borders. That could be helpful for the company, given that Google is yet to reach as many countries, and that Apple hasn’t even launched the HomePod yet.
